Sound the “a larum,” if you will…

Exciting news has filtered through the web this past week. It was officially announced that Marcus Foster will be joined by fellow English folk musician Johnny Flynn on December 7th, co-headlining at The Vera Project in Seattle.

Flynn, hailed as “the next poster boy of the nu-folk scene” by the London Times, burst onto the music scene in 2008 with his first LP, A Larum, catching the attention of fans and critics alike. A poignant story teller, Flynn will no doubt weave a tangled web of acoustic melodies and derisive wordplay to reel the audience in.

Adding to buzz is Marcus Foster’s highly anticipated return to the U.S. Foster, a contributor to multiple major motion picture soundtracks (Twilight, $5 a Day), completed a sold-out U.S. mini tour this past summer, and left audiences across America wanting more. Announcements by Foster via Twitter have alluded that new material is to be debuted, and the news that fan favorite song “I Was Broken” may make a re-vamped appearance has loyal Foster fans even more excited to welcome him back on American soil.

This impressive pairing could leave audiences wanting only one thing – perhaps a little dual “folk-freestyle?”

Rounding out the show will be Blue Roses and Moon Pulls the Ocean (Tom Eddy Solo). For more information, please visit The Vera Project website – tickets are available now!

Keep watch around these parts…you may be seeing more of Johnny Flynn than you might think!

Marcus caught up with RadarOnline and gave a very insightful interview. Marcus talks about his hopes of one day touring with Rob as well as his plans on visiting his friend in New York City in a few weeks while Rob is filming. The big news that Marcus talks about is how he almost lost a finger the other night while he was trying to make some sculpture pieces for his upcoming art show.

“I was just making something in the workshop and my thumb went through this machine called a band saw, and it nearly took my thumb off. I’ve got a sculpture show I’m working on this week; I’m making some things for that. It’s ok, it’s fine I didn’t need stitches or anything and it will heal but it just means I’m going to have to cancel this show I’m doing on Sunday. I’ve got to cancel it today. I could do it, but I can’t take the risk of a long term injury.”

Just when we thought the boys couldn’t get any bigger, Entertainment Weekly has just added them to their music list in their latest issue of EW. Let’s all show our boys support and run to our nearest newsstand and grab a copy!

Here is a write up of the article, thanks to Land of Dreamers and their friends!

Robert Pattinson and Friends
MUST MUSICAL CLIQUE

Names/Ages: Robert Pattinson, 23; Bobby Long, 22; Sam Bradley, 22; Marcus Foster, 23

WHY THEM: One of these names you know. The others you might not, but their profiles are quickly rising, thanks to their songwriting work on the still-hot Twilight soundtrack. Bradley co-penned “Never Think” with Pattinson, while Long and Foster wrote bonus track “Let Me Sign”

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES: How did three obscure musicians score such a prominent gig? They had an in: Foster and Bradley went to school with the British actor, Long met the other three at an open-mike night. (Before Twilight, Pattinson was also an aspiring singer.) Despite their friendship, their music is quite different. Bradley favors a rock vibe, Long is more folk-inclined, and Foster owes something to Tom Waits.

THIS DOESN’T SUCK: Bradley was on his way to use the bathroom when Pattinson called to say their song was going to appear in Twilight. “I pissed myself,” he says. Really? “No.”

NEXT: The trio will reunite at July’s TwiCon festival in Dallas. “It’s going to be mental,” say Foster. Will Pattinson sit in? “I wouldn’t turn up there if I was him,” says Long. Foster hopes to record some songs with Pattinson soon; “It might be my stuff, or his stuff, or some stuff we wrote together.”

ON THEIR MUST LIST: Long loves rockers the Felice Brothers, while Bradley is a fan of Vancouver singer Shera Kelly. One of Foster’s favorite actors is Christopher Walken, whose forthcoming film $5 a Day features another of Foster’s songs.
